K-W Surplus operates as a fast-paced retail company with five stores in Ontario, renowned for its constantly changing inventory. In response to the pandemic, the company launched an e-commerce platform in 2020, utilizing Shopify and Abantecart alongside its physical stores. The daily fluctuations in product offerings necessitate frequent updates across all sales channels, posing significant time and effort challenges.



Tim Snider is the digital creator for K-W Surplus, where he plays a key role in producing engaging content and managing digital strategies for the company's dynamic retail operations.

Situation:

K-W Surplus product images are captured in a photobooth as they are entered into the inventory. The photos are then edited, cropped, and cleaned up for both internal and e-commerce use. The product photos are edited in image processing software, often manually or with a background removing script. Items that K-W Surplus acquire a large quantity of, or that are exceptional value, will be featured on our social media platforms. Creating content on such a large scale is very time consuming and tedious.



Each product chosen to be featured require good quality photos showcasing the product's features. Selling points need to be streamlined and enticing for the consumer. K-W Surplus aims to feature one item daily on several platforms as a minimum.



Task:

K-W Surplus aimed to streamline and expedite the creation and publication of engaging content across multiple platforms. They sought a solution to optimize their workflow, enhance productivity, and reduce the time-consuming aspects of content creation.



Action:

K-W Surplus began using CapCut Commerce Pro and immediately realized a significant time saving opportunity. All of the new product images could be batch edited with product photos ready for e-commerce. Processed images could then be added to a video featuring all the new items for social media on a daily basis. Clothing images worn by AI models provided a new, more appealing method than a simple hanger. Considerable time was saved by not requiring modelling the clothing on a mannequin or employee. Multiple videos could be created with a simple URL or a few details and scheduled for social media very quickly. Each platform could have a different entertaining video for those that follow us on multiple channels.

Preview the created videos and pick your favourites.'' Tim Snider stated that some of the generated videos will inspire you to edit the photos used to help tell the story that the AI has created.



K-W Surplus team also produce a weekly video to demonstrate some of their best deals. Video clips are imported with ease. Backgrounds removed, transcripts created by AI, subtitles overlaid. Video can be trimmed automatically by the AI removing filler words and speech gaps. Further trimming is accomplished by deleting the words in the transcript that are not desired. Elements like stickers, words, or stock photos and videos can be added to increase the production value.



Content created can be scheduled for social media posts directly from CapCut Commerce Pro. This eliminates the need to transfer content to another resource for publishing.
